Freshwater Point Road, Legana.

Freshwater Point Road is situated in the small town of Legana, on the outskirts of Launceston.

This red-brick home was built over 25 years ago and needed to be updated to accommodate a family of five - this home was brimming at the seams. The clients brief was to add an entertaining deck, new laundry, kitchen, lounge and dining area to the likes of “Hamptons/modern country farmhouse with an A-frame roof”. The owners wish was to sit with their own company away from the kids. They needed a kitchen that looked like a ‘magazine kitchen’, and has two ovens to bake in. A laundry that is functional, and doubles as a pantry was a must. They also wanted to enjoy their garden from indoors, soak up the sun at every opportunity as well as entertain on a deck that is big enough for family and friends.

Pre-renovation the entry was underwhelming to say the least. Upon entry you were greeted with a dark alcove that led to nowhere as the wall separating the kitchen and hallway stood in the way. The existing kitchen was far from an entertainers delight - one of the owner’s is an avid and well renowned cake maker and the kitchen was the bain of her existence. Now as you enter the home and continue past the existing lounge room you are greeted with an open-concept plan. The kitchen has a 2.4 metre high ceiling and a décor truss that features heavily on the kitchen bulk head which adds to the Hamptons/Farm-house feel. The living space features easy craft panelling and a vaulted ceiling with 4 metre high gable window that looks out towards the owner’s garden. Walking through the living area you can access the entertaining deck via the 3.6 metre wide glass sliding door. This home now offers two living areas which is ideal for a family of young children and teenagers.

The extension is wrapped in James Hardie Scyon Axon (Dulux Natural White) and Colorbond Custom Orb (Monument) roofing.
